March for Science

An on-line magazine for science and society.

The magazine covers wide range of topics that are related to science, education, research, scientific temperament and society. We solicit articles (in English and with one to ten (A4) pages, on the following topics.

  • Popular science: modern science in popular form for students, teachers and common science loving people, e.g. on Higgs boson, Molecular motor, chemical engines, alternative sources of energy, artificial photo-synthesis, cancer genetics, number theory, cryptography, space science, black-holes, gravitational waves, stars, cosmos, etc.
     

  • Science education: articles useful for students in schools, colleges and universities, for example learning science by doing, interesting science models, astronomical phenomena, counter-intuitive and provocative scientific and mathematical facts with lucid explanations, puzzles in science and mathematics, chemical and physical processes that can used for miracle-busting or anti-superstition shows, introductions to telescopes, microscopes and their uses, introductions to modern science, astronomy and technology, etc.

  • Topics of common interests: articles on general issues, like global warming, GMOs, problems with plastics, artificial intelligence, environmental pollution, large-scale science experiments, e.g. CERN-LHC, LIGO, INO, human-genome projects, marine life, astronomical events, human brain, human consciousness, etc.

  • Busting pseudo-science: article refuting pseudo-science, like why astrology is not a science, why flat-earth theory is incorrect, why cow-urine cannot have gold, etc.

​

  • Important discoveries and inventions: articles introducing important scientific discoveries and their impacts, for example Darwin's theory of evolution, invention of differential calculus, theory of relativity, discovery of transistor, discovery of laser, discovery of genetics, discovery of organic chemistry, etc.

 

  • Scientific temperament: articles explaining scientific outlook, scientific or logical bent of mind, what are scientific temperament and methodology, why a science graduate may not posses a scientific mind, how scientific temperament helps a society to progress with the examples from history, etc.

 

  • Issues in science, education and research: articles highlighting the problems in science, education and research in India and how to resolve them, on issues with funds in research and education, on research ambiance in the research institutes and universities, on curriculum and methods of science education and education as a whole, on analysis of science, education and technology policies, etc.

 

  • Life, struggle and achievements of great personalities: highlighting encouraging stories of great scientists, like Acharya P C Ray, C V Raman, Meghnad Saha, Darwin, Madam Curie, Farady and social reformers, who fought for scientific temperament and secular education system in society, like Vidyasagar, Jyotiba Phule and so.

 

  • History and philosophy of science: articles discussing history and philosophy of science, for example Newton’s Principia from historical perspective, understanding of Nature from Newton to Einstein, conceptual and philosophical issues in biology, quantum mechanics, genetics and epigenetics, on history of numbers, on science and technology in ancient India and other civilizations, etc.
